# Change Order

Companion to `client-project-agreement.md` §6. Two formats below:

1. **Email version** — paste into an email. Use this for most change orders.
2. **Formal version** — print or PDF. Use for larger changes, or when the client wants a document.

Approval is by email either way. §6.6 requires nothing more than a written reply.

## Filling this out

| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| `{{CO_NUMBER}}` | Sequential per project — 001, 002, 003 |
| `{{REQUEST_DATE}}` | Date of the client's email. Always cite their email — it's the record §6.1 exists to create |
| `{{REQUEST_SUMMARY}}` | Their words, quoted or closely paraphrased. Shows you understood the ask |
| `{{WORK_DESCRIPTION}}` | What you'll actually do. Be specific enough that "done" is unambiguous |
| `{{PRICE_BASIS}}` | e.g. `2 additional pages at $100.00 each` or `estimated 3.5 hours at $50.00/hour` |
| `{{CO_TOTAL}}` | The number. If hourly, say "estimated" |
| `{{TIMELINE_IMPACT}}` | e.g. `Adds 3 business days` or `No change to the delivery date` |
| `{{BILLING_TIMING}}` | Before launch: `Added to the final balance due before go-live.` After launch: `Invoiced on completion, due on receipt.` |

**Before sending, check:** is this actually over the 30-minute floor in §6.3? If it's under, do it and don't send a change order. If it's a pile of small items in one email, estimate the pile as a whole — that's the §6.3 rule.
